Welcome to the Self-Help Library! This section provides quick and easy links on obtaining information about the library and some of the rules governing the usage of the library. Whilst in the library for either browsing or borrowing collections, you should be mindful of others by placing the collection back to the original location or leaving it on the desk and not to keep others waiting in line for too long. Inshallah in the near future this web site will allow searching of bibliography collections. During the opening, the library houses about 600 titles out of 771 total collections. Please feel free to contact library administration team for any assistance.

About Us!

Library Administration

As per section 3.1 of point of reference document, the Library Administrative Team shall comprise of the Head Librarian, Secretary, Treasurer, one Inventory Acquisition Specialist for each category of languages and a Volunteers Corps whose numbers shall be determined by the Head Librarian based on the needs required to operate the library efficiently.

During the opening of the library, the administration team consists of:

Treasurer - Sis. Zainab Samj
Inventory Acquisition - Sis. Rukhsana Habib

Book Review Board and the Library Planning Board

Book Review Board
The purpose of book review board is to review books and other library material to make the determination of whether the
book and/or the material meet the criteria set in article 1.5 of point of reference document.
To qualify for the BRB, the candidates must:

  • Be familiar with Islamic source material.
  • Be firmly grounded in Islamic knowledge.
  • Should have some intimate knowledge of the Islamic scholars and writers as well as the various publishing houses and institutions.
  • Be well versed in the language of the book and OLM they are to review.

The board members will be updated soon

Libray Planning Board
As per section 2.1 of point of reference document, The Library Planning Board shall comprise of:

  • All heads of all educational user groups of the Masumeen Islamic Centre as well as those user groups of the Masumeen Islamic Centre that include education within their mandate.
  • The Vice-Chairman of the Masumeen Management Committee.
  • The Head Librarian.
